EC: Briefly
describe the product or service your company provides.
PS:
Design and brand
consulting services for luxury and premium brands with clients in Spain,
Belgium, UK, China, US and France. Our clients include IESE Business
School, Prada, Carolina Herrera, Mission Hills, Danone, Fiat and Vanity
Fair Group among others.
EC: What is
your role in the company? How many people in your founding team
and what are their roles?
PS:
I’m the CEO and
there were 3 in our founding team – myself as Business Development and
Operations, Nick Angel as Creative Director and Sara Kiene as Strategic
Planner (she has now left our company).
EC: What is the company's current
stage of development?
PS:
We have
doubled our business y-o-y since we started and are now looking to
consolidate our position in the European and International market.
EC: What do
you consider your greatest achievement?
PS:
Being able to run
a design company based in Barcelona with clients around the world and
achieving considerable growth since our inception in 2002 and competing
against the biggest players in Spain.
EC: What do
you wish you could do over again knowing what you know now?
PS:
Making sure the
team was the right one and concentrating on what we thought was a good
approach to our business – we started off as Youth specialists although
our strengths lied in premium and luxury products.
EC: What do
you find the most satisfying about your life as an entrepreneur?
PS:
Being able to
dictate the direction and look and feel of our company. We make it a
place we would like to work at as employees.
EC: What is
the hardest part of daily life as an entrepreneur?
PS:
Cashflow,
cashflow, cashflow! A tough part is always being responsible for a
large proportion of your companies success!
EC: Would you
do it all over again?
PS:
Yes, yes,
yes! Any day – this is the second company I’ve started and I can’t
complain!
EC: Do you
have any words of advice for students from the IESE MBA that are
considering starting their own businesses after graduation?
PS:
Just do it and
accept the possibility of failure – there is too much talk and not
enough action! This will not be your last business as an entrepreneur so
go for it! |
