NAVES 2005-06

Course Description: This course has been offered since 1974 and is considered the premiere course at IESE. It offers students the opportunity to work in teams (typically 3-5 students per team) to explore a new venture idea. The deliverable of the course is a full-fledged business plan, which has to be submitted at the end of November. This means that the students have a little more than 5 weeks to explore a business idea, research it thoroughly, and write up the business plan. The professors provide feedback on all the business plans presented. Between 10 and 12 business plans will be selected to be presented mid December at an investment forum at IESE.

Who would benefit from this course:
  1. Students who want to set up their own venture upon completing the MBA program.  They can begin to develop and refine their business idea.

  2. Students who are undecided between paid employment and starting their own venture.

  3. Students who want to take up paid employment in entrepreneurial companies.   The course will help you evaluate the potential of those companies.

  4. Students who want to work in Venture Capital or Private Equity firms. Get an insight into the criteria used by these firms to evaluate business opportunities.

  5. All students: one third of all MBA students set up their own venture by the time they are in their mid-forties.
